Pune Warriors

This franchise of cricket team playing under IPL is representing the Indian city Pune. The franchise is one of the two newly added franchises of the IPL that was founded in 2010 and played 2011 matches under IPL as their first season. Subrata Roy of Sahara Group won the bid from Videocon Group and purchased the franchise for 170.2 million Indian rupees.
Angelo Mathews is the team captain and Allan Donald is the head coach of the team. Allan Donald is former South African Pacer and currently bowling coach of South Africa. As the name of the team Warriors so it’s the logo has spear wielding warrior riding a stallion. Initially the name of the franchise was Sahara Pune Warriors later it changed to Pune Warriors India. They signed with Adidas as their official sponsor for the coming seasons. While TVS Motors were their proper brand sponsor. The other sponsors included Pepsi, Playup, Royal Challenge, Amity University, Valvoline and Finolex. The color assigned to the team is Turquoise blue and silver.
For their first season in 2011 Pune Warriors signed top players including Yuvraj Singh, Robbin Uthappa, Jesse Ryder, Angelo Mathews, Murali Kartik, Graeme Smith, Ashish Nehra and also have signed number of top uncapped players of Indian different clubs and franchises that is Abhishek Jhunjhunwala, Mohnish Mishra, Kamran Khan and Mithun Minhas. The team played a successful season of IPL 2011 under the captaincy of Yuvraj Singh.
At the start of the fifth season of IPL in 2012 Sahara decided to withdraw their Pune Warriors from season 2012 just hour before when the auction was about to start. But later Subrata Roy said that Saurav Ganguly will be asked for reconcialliation, later he announced that Yuvraj Singh would be replaced. The deadlocks were still between BCCI and Sahara group. But later on February 2012, the discussion ended up with a positive result and they announced that Pune Warriors will play the season 2012 of IPL.
It was decided by disbanding of Kochi Tuskers Kerala that each team will play with remaining eight teams twice, once at home ground and once at away so the each team will play 16 total matches. The first match was considered as a battle between two friends Saurav Ganguly and Sachin Tendulkar from the team Mumbai Indians. Pune warriors won the match by 29 runs. PW played total 16 matches but won only 4 and lost 12 and retained their position at 9 out of 9 teams.
The players currently playing with PW are Robin Uthappa, Yuvraj Singh, Angelo Mathews, Kane Richarson, Ajantha Mendis, Abhishek Nayar, Ashok Dinda, Micheal Clarke, Marlon Samuels, Luke Wright, Wayne Parnell, Rahul Sharma and Bhuvneshwar Kumar.

Mumbai Indians

IPL (Indian Premier League) launched a franchise of cricket team named Mumbai Indians representing the Mumbai city. The team is owned by India’s largest group of industries that is Reliance Industries. The Wankhede Stadium is the team’s primary stadium in Mumbai. Mumbai Indians is coached by John Wright and Ricky Ponting from Australian team is its captain. They were the runners-up team during 2010 season of the IPL against Chennai Super Kings. That was the best match of its six years career. Sachin Tendulkar was the best scorer while Lasith Malinga was the best bowler. Nita Ambani is the chief executive of the franchise Mumbai Indians.
Reliance Industries Limited purchased its rights of Mumbai Indians franchise legally from the IPL with the highest bid of 496 Cr, that was the highest bid for any of the franchise from January 24, 2008 till the 2010. In later aunction 2011 Sahara Pune Warriors was bought by Subroto Roy with total of 1726 Cr.
During its first season in 2008 their performance was not satisfactory. They ended up their first season with a record of 7 wins and 7 losses matches. But it was recorded that the Mumbai Indians was the most watched team of the tournament of IPL with audience of 239 Million and revenue of 69 Cr. But the expenditures were 85 Cr. So they ended their first season with net loss of 16 Cr. It was expected to break the team for 2009 season. Sachin Tendulkar was its first captain during 2008 season.
For 2009 its second season of IPL Mumbai Indians brought some new players in their team and also exchanged Ashish Nehra with Delhi Daredevils for Shikhar Dhawan and Robin Uthappa for Zaheer Khan with Royal CHanllengers. They also bought new players JP Duminy for $950,000 and Kyle Mills for $150,000 and Mohammad Ashraf for $75000.
But the second season also not satisfied for the owner. As it also ended up in the bottom two on points table.
2010 was considered their comeback season as they again purchased and exchanged new players. All the players performed well but Sachin Tendulkar got the best scorer award of the season with a strike rate of 132.61 and scored 618 runs. He got the orange cap also awarded for the best captain of the 2010 IPL.
Mumbai Indians played consecutive second semifinal in 2011 and was lost by the Royal Challengers Banglore by 43 runs.
During its fifth season Mumbai Indians had won 10 out of 16 matches in 2012.
The team logo has Sudarshana Chakra with the name of team that is engraved in it. During 2008-09 the team color was same but later in 2010 golden stripes were introduced. Also on jursey golden stripes were printed for the new players.
