IPL (Indian Premier League) launched a franchise of cricket team named Mumbai Indians representing the Mumbai city. The team is owned by India’s largest group of industries that is Reliance Industries. The Wankhede Stadium is the team’s primary stadium in Mumbai. Mumbai Indians is coached by John Wright and Ricky Ponting from Australian team is its captain. They were the runners-up team during 2010 season of the IPL against Chennai Super Kings. That was the best match of its six years career. Sachin Tendulkar was the best scorer while Lasith Malinga was the best bowler. Nita Ambani is the chief executive of the franchise Mumbai Indians.
Reliance Industries Limited purchased its rights of Mumbai Indians franchise legally from the IPL with the highest bid of 496 Cr, that was the highest bid for any of the franchise from January 24, 2008 till the 2010. In later aunction 2011 Sahara Pune Warriors was bought by Subroto Roy with total of 1726 Cr.
During its first season in 2008 their performance was not satisfactory. They ended up their first season with a record of 7 wins and 7 losses matches. But it was recorded that the Mumbai Indians was the most watched team of the tournament of IPL with audience of 239 Million and revenue of 69 Cr. But the expenditures were 85 Cr. So they ended their first season with net loss of 16 Cr. It was expected to break the team for 2009 season. Sachin Tendulkar was its first captain during 2008 season.
For 2009 its second season of IPL Mumbai Indians brought some new players in their team and also exchanged Ashish Nehra with Delhi Daredevils for Shikhar Dhawan and Robin Uthappa for Zaheer Khan with Royal CHanllengers. They also bought new players JP Duminy for $950,000 and Kyle Mills for $150,000 and Mohammad Ashraf for $75000.
But the second season also not satisfied for the owner. As it also ended up in the bottom two on points table.
2010 was considered their comeback season as they again purchased and exchanged new players. All the players performed well but Sachin Tendulkar got the best scorer award of the season with a strike rate of 132.61 and scored 618 runs. He got the orange cap also awarded for the best captain of the 2010 IPL.
Mumbai Indians played consecutive second semifinal in 2011 and was lost by the Royal Challengers Banglore by 43 runs.
During its fifth season Mumbai Indians had won 10 out of 16 matches in 2012.
The team logo has Sudarshana Chakra with the name of team that is engraved in it. During 2008-09 the team color was same but later in 2010 golden stripes were introduced. Also on jursey golden stripes were printed for the new players.

Chennai Super Kings

The cricket franchise of Chennai is Chennai Super Kings that is playing under IPL. The Team founded in 2008 and owned by India Cements who paid $91 million to get its rights for 10 years. The President of BCCI N. Srinivasan is the Vice Chairman and Managing Director of the team CSK. M. A. Chidambaram Stadium is its home ground. The team is coached by Stephen Fleming while Andy Bichel is its Bowling coach and Steve Rixon is Fielding coach of the team. The captain is Mahendra Singh Dhoni.
CSK won the two successive IPL title of 2011 and 2012 also reached the plays off every season. It is the only team that is playing the sixth season with the same captain. The team also recognized as it’s the only Indian team who have won the Champions League T20. Suresh Raina is the main run scorer and Albie Morkel is a leading wicket taker of the team. The consistent brilliant performance made the franchise market value very high. The current estimated brand value of the franchise is US$ 75.13 million that is the most valuable franchise of the IPL. Film Actor Vijay and Actress Nayantara were the brand ambassadors but later on they were removed.
The team came with a solid start in 2008 IPL and won the first match against Kings XI Punjab by 33 runs. They were the runners-up team of 2008 also qualified for Champions League T20. CSK won 9 matches out of 16 and ended up the session by 2nd position from top. Next year proved a bit difficult for them as they were the semifinal runners up team and could not qualify for the Champions League T20. They played 15 total matches and won 8 and ended up the season by standing at 4th position on the performance chart. But the team proved them with a great come back in next season and became the champions of the 2010 IPL also were the champions of the Champions League T20. They won 9 out of 16 matches of the tournament. They got the best team title of IPL again in 2011 IPL season 4. CSK played 16 matches won 11 with a percentage of 68.75% and became the champions. Their success graph showed a slight down slide during 2012 its 5th season of IPL. But the won 10 out of 19 matches with a percentage of 55.56% and were the runners-up team of 2012.
MS Dhoni is the costliest player of the team with his salary $3.000,000. Other players of the team are Ravindra Jadeja, Suresh Raina, Murali Vijay, Ravinchandran Ashwin, Chris Morris, Albie Morkel, Micheal Hussey, Dwayne Bravo, Francois du Plessis, Wriddiman Saha, Nuwan Kulasekara and Ben Hilfenhaus.
