Mumbai Indians

IPL (Indian Premier League) launched a franchise of cricket team named Mumbai Indians representing the Mumbai city. The team is owned by India’s largest group of industries that is Reliance Industries. The Wankhede Stadium is the team’s primary stadium in Mumbai. Mumbai Indians is coached by John Wright and Ricky Ponting from Australian team is its captain. They were the runners-up team during 2010 season of the IPL against Chennai Super Kings. That was the best match of its six years career. Sachin Tendulkar was the best scorer while Lasith Malinga was the best bowler. Nita Ambani is the chief executive of the franchise Mumbai Indians.
Reliance Industries Limited purchased its rights of Mumbai Indians franchise legally from the IPL with the highest bid of 496 Cr, that was the highest bid for any of the franchise from January 24, 2008 till the 2010. In later aunction 2011 Sahara Pune Warriors was bought by Subroto Roy with total of 1726 Cr.
During its first season in 2008 their performance was not satisfactory. They ended up their first season with a record of 7 wins and 7 losses matches. But it was recorded that the Mumbai Indians was the most watched team of the tournament of IPL with audience of 239 Million and revenue of 69 Cr. But the expenditures were 85 Cr. So they ended their first season with net loss of 16 Cr. It was expected to break the team for 2009 season. Sachin Tendulkar was its first captain during 2008 season.

Royal Challengers Bangalore

Indian Premiere League put up many cricket franchises on auction during its inauguration in Mumbai held in February 20, 2008. The name of the franchises consists of many different Indian cities. Royal Challengers Bangalore is one of them. The IPL cricket tournament organized by Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and is supported by International Cricket Council (ICC). IPL presented eight different teams for auction , among them, RCB was the second highest bid franchise after the Ambani’s Mumbai Indians. Vijay Mallya won its bid for US$ 111.6 million. Katrina Kaif, Deepika Pedukon and Sandalwood are the brand ambassadors of RCB.
Currently the captain of RCB team is Virat Kohli and the coach is Ray Jennings from South Africa. M. Chinnaswamy Stadium is its home ground, Sidhart Mallya is the director of the team where as Avinash Vadiya is its Manager.
The team showed its consistent performance since its start and played semifinal three times except 2008 and 2012 tournament. RCB’s also qualified for three seasons of the Champions League T20.
During its first season in 2008 the team won only 4 matches out of 14 and was at second from bottom at the end of the season. RCB appeared with a good start during 2009, second season of IPL by winning a match against Rajasthan Royals but later went on losing matches under the captaincy of Kevin Pietersen. RCB’s fortune started doing in its favor by replacing captain for Anil Kumble and they reached in final with Deccan Chargers but could not win. During this season Manish Pandey becomes the first Indian by scoring 114* (73) against Deccan Chargers. 2010 proved a mixture of lose and win for RCB by losing and winning 8, 8 matches by playing 16 total and stood at 3rd place among the teams. 2011 season of IPL proved a good year for RCB’s as they played total 17 matches out of which RCB’s won 10 and lost 6 matches with one match tied. RCB was the runner up of 2011 but lost final against Chennai Supper Kings by 58 runs. But qualified for the champions trophy. RCB’s proved themselves and played the next season in 2012 very well. The team won 8 out of 16 matches while one match ended up without any result due to rain.
Currently the team playing with Chris Gayle, Virat Kohli, Saurabh Tiwary, AB de Villiers, Vinay Kumar, Zaheer Khan, Cheteshwar Pujara, Tillakaratne Dilshan, Daniel Vettori, Jaydev Unadkat, R P Singh, Abhimanyu Mithin, Muttiah Muralitharan and Andrew McDonald.
